Abstract

This document presents a pre-engineering thermodynamic framework for subsurface thermal stabilization of long-duration habitats under extreme environmental gradients (Mars, Lunar, and terrestrial extremes). The model explores controlled ground buffering, reduced radiative exposure, and integrated internal heat routing as a strategy to decrease reliance on continuous active thermal systems. This work remains in the pre-engineering modeling stage and does not represent operational deployment. Completed:- Radial heat conduction modeling- Finite ground buffering estimates- Hydraulic routing projections- Structural load approximation- Comparative PUE projections Not yet completed:- CFD validation- Regolith-specific geotechnical modeling- Pilot deployment- Multi-season empirical data Open to technical evaluation, modeling refinement, and feasibility discussion.
