Abstract

The article deals with the problem of complex adjectives de-etymologization. The study relevance is determined by the lack of a unified approach to the composites analysis with obvious simplification signs. The work scientific novelty lies in the fact that it is for the first time that the de-etymologization of compound adjectives is considered with examples from popular telegram channels. The comparative-historical method allows us to study complex adjectives both from a historical perspective and from the point of view of the Russian language current state. The method of contextual analysis is used to explain the complex adjectives evolution for better understanding of semantic processes. The corpus methods, description and formalization are used to estimate the factual base. The method of quantitative analysis helps to determine the frequency of the linguistic units under study usage in modern Russian and to confirm the study results. The comparative analysis is applied to analyse the existing scientific concepts and to determine the work theoretical significance. The results obtained enable to draw the conclusion about two main types of simplification — complete and partial. They equally modify both the first and second components of additions. The loss of semantic connections between root morphemes leads to the complex adjectives de-etymologization. A semantic shift is observed in the adjective structure, with its morphological structure being not clearly defined. Univerbalisation composites, quasi-composites, and compounds formed from primary composites — all these complex adjectives types have revealed structural changes. Keywords: composite, de-etymologization, morpheme, motivation, word formation, quasi-composite, structural model.
