Crea-Kin: A Novel Conceptual Framework and Core Assessment Protocol for General Motor Creativity
Abstract
This technical report presents a novel theoretical framework, structural design, and core administration protocol of Crea-Kin (derived from Creativity in Kinesis), a new assessment tool designed to assess General Motor Creativity (and Divergent Movement Ability). Developed to address the psychometric and conceptual limitations of the most widely used instruments for General Motor Creativity (GMC) regarding constraint-induced bias, Crea-Kin employs a novel Instructional Neutrality Principle. The assessment focuses on three fundamental motor domains based on functional motor skill classification: Locomotion (Crea-Kin L), Stability (Crea-Kin S), and Object Interaction (Crea-Kin BS). This report details the instrument's unique environmental settings based on colour psychology, the Hero-based constraint-free instructional protocol specifically tailored for primary children aged 6-12 years, and a refined scoring system that integrates Fluency, Flexibility, Appropriateness, and Originality. Notably, the instrument allows for the separate assessment of Divergent Movement Ability (DMA) by calculating Fluency, Flexibility, and Appropriateness, while the General Motor Creativity score incorporates the additional criterion of Originality.
