Ayios Memnon, a former paradise on earth. Part B'
Abstract
"Ayios Memnon was the most beautiful area in Famagusta town, on the island of Cyprus. The place was full of gardens with orange, lemon and pomegranates trees. It was across a beautiful seaside with blue crystal water. The British named this seashore “Golden Sands”. It was a sparsely populated area with very hospitable and polite habitants whose homes were among these marvellous gardens. These gardens were irrigated with water, pumped by wells with the help of Canadian windmills. Water was kept in cisterns made from stone. There were more than 138 water cisterns and so many windmills. People believed that they lived in a paradise on earth especially during the citrus blooming season when you could smell their distinct fragrant in the air.
