Emergence: A Programming Paradigm for Constraint-Shaped Agency
Abstract
The programmer does not write the program — the programmer writes the conditions under which the program emerges. Proposes Emergence as a paradigm where autonomous agents interpret messages within a constraint architecture and system behavior arises from agent interaction within those constraints. Recovers Alan Kay's original OOP vision, now feasible with LLM agents as substrate.
