Abstract

This package provides tools for estimating and mapping global lunar surface regolith thickness as in Rajšić et al. (2026), using spatial interpolation from scattered measurements. v2.0.0 adds statistical analyses and a self-consistent treatment of the geospatial data. Features Loads and parses mapped craters and regolith thickness measurements from CSV/Excel files. Runs statistical analyses and estimates global and local regolith thickness from mapped crater data. Interpolated thickness values across the lunar surface using inverse distance weighting (IDW) with a spherical R-tree. Visualizes global and hemispheric maps with customizable projections. Overlays mare regions using LROC lunar maria shapefiles. Generates publication-quality figures with matplotlib and cartopy.
