Abstract

Innovation in technology, shifting customer tastes, and the need for more convenient shopping experiences are all factors in the dramatic shift now occurring in the worldwide food retail industry. The conventional process of grocery shopping has been transformed into an omnichannel ecosystem due to the fast integration of in-store experiences with mobile apps, e-commerce platforms, and quick-commerce delivery systems. Rising disposable income, digitisation, and urbanisation are driving forces behind the market's anticipated steady expansion. Traditional kirana shops continue to have a strong hold on the food and grocery retail industry in India. This is due to the high level of trust, closeness, and personalised care that customers get from these establishments. However, as a result of rising internet access, smartphone usage, and shifting customer expectations, organised retail and online grocery platforms are quickly growing. The unusual hybrid retail structure seen in developing countries is exemplified by the presence of conventional, organised, and digital retail forms.
