Salaryscope
Abstract
Abstract: The globalization of employment markets has led to a significant rise in cross-border job opportunities, particularly for professionals from developing economies such as India. While foreign employment often promises higher nominal salaries, evaluating the true economic benefit of such offers remains a complex challenge. Conventional salary comparison methods that rely solely on currency exchange rates fail to account for crucial determinants of financial well-being, including purchasing power parity, taxation systems, housing affordability, transportation costs, healthcare expenses, and lifestyle expectations. As a result, professionals frequently make career decisions based on misleading salary perceptions, which may lead to financial strain or dissatisfaction after relocation. This paper presents SalaryScope, a cross-border compensation and cost-of-living evaluation platform designed to translate foreign salary packages into an equivalent Indian salary that reflects comparable living standards. Unlike traditional converters, SalaryScope integrates country-specific tax structures, city-level cost-of- living indices, and purchasing power parity adjustments to produce realistic and contextual salary equivalence estimates. The platform is intended for Indian professionals evaluating overseas job offers, human resource teams engaged in global compensation planning, and expatriates preparing for international relocation. By offering transparent calculations and structured financial insights, SalaryScope enables informed, data- driven decision-making and contributes toward reducing uncertainty in global employment evaluation
