ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TECHNOLOGIES AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE IN COMMERCIAL BANKS
Abstract
The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the banking sector has significantly transformed operational processes, risk management, and decision-making frameworks. This research explores the influence of AI adoption on sustainable performance in commercial banks, emphasizing financial, operational, and environmental sustainability dimensions. Using a comprehensive review of recent empirical and theoretical studies, the paper demonstrates that AI enhances credit risk assessment, fraud detection, and customer service while introducing systemic risks, such as algorithmic bias and potential financial instability. The findings suggest that sustainable performance depends not only on the technological adoption of AI but also on governance, regulatory frameworks, and organizational readiness. The study provides actionable insights for managers, policymakers, and researchers to integrate AI effectively while ensuring long-term sustainability.
