Abstract

This paper presents a theoretical motivational architecture with six testable predictions, six falsification criteria, a structured five-year research agenda, and a set of philosophical implications concerning agency, moral perception, ethical dialogue, and the history of moral systems. The empirical and philosophical components are developed in an integrated framework — the Triadic Psychological Architecture (TPA) and its applied extension, the Triadic Balance Framework (TBF) — grounded in neurobiological dissociation evidence and convergent with multiple independent research traditions. The proposed mechanism is regulatory state modulation of three neurobiologically distinct motivational domains — the Triadic Psychological Architecture (TPA). Human motivation is organized, TPA proposes, around SPAA (Self-Preservation and Appetitive Acquisition), AEACFO (Affective Empathy and Affective Care For Others), and ACA (Analytical Capacity and Analysis). Their expression is dynamically modulated by SPAA's regulatory state: iSPAA (nervous system under perceived threat) versus sSPAA (nervous system under sufficient safety). Domain independence is argued from bidirectional double dissociation evidence. The framework's applied extension — the Triadic Balance Framework (TBF) — translates this architecture into a sequenced clinical intervention model with a specific, testable efficacy prediction. The paper is structured as a research program proposal with an integrated philosophical implications section. It develops a three-tier autonomy verdict for AEACFO from neurological dissociation evidence, specifies differential predictions distinguishing TPA from the Big Five, attachment theory, SDT, and motivated reasoning research, and proposes Co-regularity Baseline Shift (CBS) — a bidirectional baseline movement mechanism generating longitudinal predictions no prior framework makes. The philosophical section develops the Configuration Thesis (most behavior is configuration-expression rather than deliberation), the Perceptual Field Thesis (configuration determines perceptual access before reasoning begins), and a structural account of moral history as perceptual field expansion and contraction. Current epistemic status: 8/10 internal coherence, 3/10 empirical validation.
