MORPHOMETRIC PARAMETERS OF THE FUNDAL GLANDS OF THE GASTRIC MUCOSA IN GRADE II AND III OBESITY
Abstract
In metabolic syndrome, morphometric analysis of the gastric mucosa demonstrated that, according to comparative group evaluation, progressive body weight gain was associated with a 23.5% reduction in the size of fundal gland cells, reflecting atrophic changes. Sclerotic alterations increased by 26.3% compared to the control group and by 15.8% compared to Group I. In the exposed stromal areas, marked proliferation of coarse fibrous connective tissue was observed. These findings indicate a continuous progression of the pathological process and functional overstrain of the fundal glands. Consequently, the initiation of metaplastic and dysplastic changes was confirmed..
