RanHao1999/SWA-Data-Analysis: First release for AAS journals publication
Abstract
This Zenodo record provides the code associated with the manuscript "The Damping and Instability of Ion-acoustic Waves in the Solar Wind: Solar Orbiter Observations", published in the Astrophysical Journal (ApJ), one of the AAS journals. The materials in this archive were developed for the analysis presented in this work. In particular, they include code for using a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) to separate different ion components in Solar Orbiter/SWA/PAS measurements, code for calculating plasma moments, and code for generating the "collared" velocity distribution functions (VDFs) shown in the paper. These materials are intended to support transparency, reproducibility, and reuse of the analysis presented in the paper. They may be useful for those who want to adapt the methods to similar Solar Orbiter intervals, as well as to those interested more broadly in using PAS data to study kinetic processes in the solar wind. The code is written in Python. Additional details, such as usage information, are provided in the README file. This record preserves the version of the code used for the analysis presented in the paper. Further development, improvements, and extensions of the software may be released in future versions. The software is released under the MIT License.
