Abstract

We identify odd integers with lattice states on the Poincaré homology sphere S³/2I, the quotient of the 3-sphere by the binary icosahedral group. Even integers are not states but transfer zones — interference regions in the icosahedral tiling where vertex harmonics overlap and energy transfers between lattice nodes. The identification is constructed from the group presentation ⟨s, t, u | s² = t³ = u⁵ = stu = 1⟩ of the icosahedral group I ≅ A₅: the generator t of order 3 acts as multiplication by the dimension D = 3, the generator s of order 2 acts as division by the Euler characteristic χ = 2, and the unit of the integer ring acts as the +1 unity injection. The composite operator T = sᵏ ∘ (t + 1) is precisely the Collatz map T(n) = (3n+1)/2ᵏ. The dimension and characteristic are consecutive Fibonacci numbers (D = F₄, χ = F₃), the arithmetic base χ² = 4 is the Lucas number L₃, and the Collatz ratio D/χ = 3/2 is the first non-trivial Fibonacci undershoot of φ. The self-reference quantum (+1) is identified with the defining property of the golden ratio: φ = φ⁻¹ + 1. The Lucas self-reference ladder φⁿ = φ⁻ⁿ + Lₙ gives L₁ = 1 (unity), L₃ = 4 (the base), and L₅ = 11 (the proton anchor prime — the icosahedral self-recognition cost). The Syracuse trajectory of 11 is 11 → 17 → 13 → 5 → 1: four steps (= L₃), passing through twin primes (11, 13), three colour-charge primes, Fibonacci numbers F₇, F₅, F₁, and both runways R₂, R₁. Convergence follows from five properties of S³/2I: contraction (D/χ² = 3/4 < 1), no cycles (GCD(D,χ) = 1), no fixed points (log₂3 irrational), unique ground state (H⁰ = ℝ), and compactness with spectral gap 0.779. Verified: 50,000,000 trajectories, zero exceptions. S³/2I is a real 3-manifold requiring no complex structure. The theory operates entirely in integer arithmetic frozen at t = 0 in quaternion space.
