Abstract

Data Description This dataset contains extracts from qualitative materials collected during 25 months of ethnographic fieldwork (2018–2021) in Hyderabad, India, examining the social experiences and stigma associated with platform-mediated food delivery work. During the initial six months of fieldwork, the researcher worked as a delivery worker for a leading food delivery platform, which provided firsthand insight into the rhythms of delivery work and everyday interactions with customers, restaurant staff, and security personnel. Subsequent fieldwork relied primarily on participant observation, including accompanying delivery workers during their shifts and spending time at restaurant waiting points where workers gathered between orders. The dataset consists of seven files containing anonymized qualitative materials used in the analysis presented in the article. These includes Interview transcripts,. Interaction notes. Ethnographic field notes, Worker profile summaries To protect the privacy of participants, all identifying information has been removed and pseudonyms have been used. The archived files contain only anonymized transcripts, field notes, and contextual descriptions necessary to understand the empirical basis of the research.
