IR Correlations of the QCD Vacuum, UV/IR Coupling, and the Dark-Energy Scale
Abstract
EN: IR QCD vacuum correlations generate a testable nonlocal hadronic contribution numerically close to the observed dark-energy scale. This manuscript is part of a series of 17 papers (A–S). For a compact self-contained guide to the full program, including epistemic levels, falsification roadmap, and all DOIs, see the program summary: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19218767 Abstract We consider a mechanism in which infrared correlations of the QCD vacuum induce, in the EFT of gravity, a nonlocal gravitational contribution of the form T·G·T, where G denotes the Green function of the flat-space d'Alembertian operator. After fixing the local term by a renormalization condition in the flat-space limit, a nonlocal piece controlled by the connected scalar-channel correlator δΘ ≡ Θ − ⟨Θ⟩ remains. We parametrize rho_DE = kappa G_N mu_*^6, with mu_* = (m_pi F_pi^2 / 4pi)^(1/3) = 44.988 MeV, and take kappa_obs = 0.452221 as the benchmark cosmological target. We evaluate kappa_LD^{pi pi-el}(r_LD) through a dispersive construction controlled by elastic pi pi and an operational criterion that fixes r_LD by elastic dominance, obtaining kappa_LD^{pi pi-el}(2.62 fm) = 0.439 and a conservative band [0.419, 0.464]. We also compute the dominant inelastic correction from the K Kbar / f_0(980) threshold by solving a 2×2 Muskhelishvili-Omnes problem with published inputs in the controlled window E_max ≈ 1.2 GeV, finding delta kappa_{K Kbar}(2.62 fm) = +0.00950 ± 0.00061 and, therefore, kappa_LD^{2ch}(2.62 fm) = 0.449 ± 0.014 for the long-distance hadronic piece. The normalization of the functional prefactor is calibrated in free theory, and a partial closure test shows that the required intermediate contribution kappa_W^req(r_LD) is compatible with zero around r_LD ≈ 2.62 fm; under the conservative bound |kappa_SD| ≲ 10^-2, the falsifiable lattice prediction is kappa_W ≈ 0 ± 0.02. The purpose of this work is to quantify this hadronic nonlocal piece and to propose falsifiable microphysical tests, explicitly separating the microphysics computed here from the operational cosmological identification developed in a companion work of the series.
