A Developmental Obstruction to Odd Perfect Labelings
Abstract
This paper develops a geometric analogue of the classical perfect number problem within the framework of developmental geometry. The developmental flow, its branching structure, and the antisymmetry of curvature give rise to a curvature‑weighted accumulation operator that plays the role of a divisor‑sum operator. A labeling is called developmentally perfect if it is a fixed point of this operator, mirroring the classical condition σ(n) = 2n. The central result of the paper is a structural obstruction: multiplicatively odd axis fields impose a global inconsistency in the curvature‑balance system that governs the developmental divisor structure. This inconsistency prevents the fixed‑point condition from being satisfied across the full branch structure of the manifold. As a consequence, no positive labeling can be developmentally perfect when the axis field is multiplicatively odd. The obstruction is geometric rather than arithmetic. It arises from the interaction of curvature antisymmetry, multiplicative oddness of the axis field, and the global geometry of the developmental flow. Nevertheless, it parallels the classical difficulty of constructing an odd perfect number: in both settings, the required balance cannot be achieved. The paper establishes this obstruction rigorously and situates it within the broader structure of the developmental geometry program.
