Abstract

Three data sets associated with "Using Terrestrial Organic Matter to Reconstruct the Stable Carbon Isotope Composition of the Atmosphere" (Keating and Sheldon, 2026, Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology) are included in .xlsx format: ds01: Summary dataset for the samples analyzed for this study from the Hoback and Pass Peak formations, including stratigraphic height in outcrop, total organic carbon, grain size, organic matter type, δ13Corg, and calculated δ13Catm ds02: Compilation of of previously published terrestrial δ13Corg data from the late Paleocene (57.9–56.9 Ma) and early Eocene (53.9–52.9 Ma) dsO3: Palynological records from the Hoback and Pass Peak Formations paired with upper and lower tolerance MAP limits of associated nearest living relatives from Utescher et al., 2024
