Ok, AI. Now What? The Post-Job Survival Guide to the AI Economy
Abstract
The job was not just an economic arrangement. It was the organising unit of adult identity: where you belonged, what you contributed, how you survived. For centuries, that held. Then artificial intelligence arrived, and it did not arrive with alarms. It arrived with relief. An hour saved here. A draft that did not feel like pulling teeth. A task that no longer required your presence. And quietly, the scaffolding began to give. This book is written from after the shift, by people who lived through it without a map. It does not predict the future. It documents what worked. Structured around eight practical strategies for building economic sovereignty in the AI era, it traces a single arc: from displacement and confusion to contribution, creation, and income that does not require your pulse to function. The strategies span intelligence expansion, storytelling, intellectual property, knowledge products, scalable services, community, and automation. Together they constitute what the authors call the Synthetic Kitchen: a framework for reclaiming the counter, building the oven, and keeping the recipe. The book does not romanticise the transition. It acknowledges the structural barriers, the privilege differentials, the psychological weight of unstable income. What it argues is that the post-job era is not the end of work. It is the end of the job as the only legitimate form of participation. The distinction matters. Work persists. The fixed seat in someone else's machine does not. This volume is the entry point to the OKKA Expanded Intelligence Series, and the practical foundation on which the subsequent volumes build. This book is part of the OKKA Expanded Intelligence research programme (Zenodo DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.19086615), a 124-entry interdisciplinary study on expanded intelligence, human-AI collaboration, and civilisational cognition.
