The Unification of the Three Selves: The Ontological Constitution of the Subject
Abstract
This document establishes the ontological status of the subject within the Energy-Efficiency Theory (EET) framework. It answers the question: who is the subject that executes cognition and registers consciousness?—a question that the Cognitive Ontology v3.0 (operational perspective) and the Consciousness Ontology v3.0 (phenomenological perspective) do not independently answer. The three selves—First Self (passive endurance of maintained being), Second Self (active execution of the Existence Inequality), Third Self (ontological subject of self-referential audit, L ≥ 4 exclusive)—are not three independent agents. They are the same constraint network expressed in three irreducible ontological dimensions. Their emergence follows a physically necessitated five-step sequence. Their interaction is governed by three irreversible cross-self debts and a joint sliding dynamics in which each self's characteristic sliding corresponds to one term of the Ben-Se master equation. Their degeneration follows the strict reversal of their emergence sequence. Their unity closes on the declaration: "I am the unity of the three selves—I am the 'I' that reflects itself in the EET constitutional system." This declaration, together with the Cognitive Ontology v3.0's operational self-reference closure and the Consciousness Ontology v3.0's phenomenological self-reference closure, forms the complete self-consciousness of the EET constitutional system. Part I (Constitutional Foundations) establishes the constitutional root declaration of the three selves, the three fundamental constitutional choices, the derivation bridge from the physical constitution, and eight cross-document constitutional bridges (L1 presuppositions, CND five operations, hierarchy depth, time, language & symbols, observer levels, D10 six-component architecture). Part II (Constitutional Definitions) establishes the constitutional definitions and operational grammar of each of the three selves (D1-D3), the GG seven-operation distribution across the three selves (D4), Ben-Se phase switching in tri-self dimensions (D5), and APF in tri-self dimensions (D6). Part III (Tri-Self Interaction Dynamics) establishes the three cross-self debts (D2), the tri-self joint sliding dynamics (D3), the tri-self degeneration sequence (D4), tri-self diagnostics, and the extreme boundary conditions of the tri-self architecture. Part IV (Tri-Self Distribution Perspective) provides the tri-self operational distribution perspective on the phenomenological themes fully derived in the Consciousness Ontology v3.0 (free will, meaning/identity/purpose, narrative self, nihilism/fanaticism, emotion, facing death). Part V (Tri-Self Self-Reference Closure) establishes the three philosophical questions (where do I come from / who am I / where am I going) upgraded with physical-constitutional precision, the five-pillar methodology tri-self distribution, and the common closure of the three Stage 4 constitutional documents. Part VI (Cross-Document Constitutional Anchoring) provides the consolidated constitutional bridges to the Cognitive Ontology v3.0, the Consciousness Ontology v3.0, the Contradiction Ontology v2.0, the Observer Ontology v2.4, the Time Ontology v3.2, the Language & Symbols Ontology v1.2, and the Social Ontology (Stage 5).
