Abstract

The Loom is a structural model within the Tang Papers research program describing how patterns form and stabilize in coordinated systems. It integrates three non-substitutable components: accumulation (Scalar), coordination (Phase), and constraint (Boundary), mapped respectively to Thread, Shuttle, and Frame. Their interaction produces the Weave, representing emergent structure. The model provides a cross-domain framework applicable to artificial intelligence, communication, biological systems, and organizational dynamics. It complements diagnostic work such as Phase Drift by describing the conditions required for structural coherence. Core principle: structure emerges when accumulation is coordinated under constraint. The Loom serves as a generative counterpart to Phase Drift, forming part of a broader framework for understanding formation, failure, and reconstruction in complex systems.
