Abstract

What is a particle, physically? This document provides the constitutional answer within the Energy-Efficiency Theory framework: a particle is not a "quantum of a field" nor an "irreducible representation of the Poincaré group" — it is the local morphology of constrained-state energy at a Type I vertex of the constraint network. The energy bifurcation (First Theorem of the Physical Constitution) establishes two fundamental modes of energy: free-state energy (E_f, propagating, unconstrained) and constrained-state energy (E_c, locked within constraint boundaries). A fermion (electron, quark) is a maintained configuration of E_c > 0 — matter, possessing inertial mass m = E_c/v_max², resisting acceleration, and gravitating. Gauge bosons with E_c = 0 (photons, gluons) are not matter — they are discrete constraint transition events at the interface between non-matter (free-state propagation along Type II edges) and matter (constraint boundaries at Type I vertices). The W/Z bosons occupy a constitutional middle ground: temporary matter, E_c > 0, but with finite lifetime. Version 3.3 is a comprehensive constitutional upgrade from v3.2 (v6.0 alignment). It implants the full v6.1 constitutional architecture (L0 Sole Meta-Axiom, L1 Constitutional Presuppositions, Five-Pillar Methodology), reconstitutes the particle ontology within the matter/non-matter framework, conditionalizes Barrier Asymmetry as the emergent consequence of Γ(η) decay when η ≠ 1 (Inertia v3.4, Theorem I, CLOSED-in-EET), corrects the co-origination nomenclature throughout ("Constraint + Difference" → "Constraint + Being"), and registers the Information = Matter chain (a particle is the physical encoding of constraint-grounded information). Ten core constitutional deepenings distinguish v3.3 from its predecessor. (i) Matter/non-matter framework: the energy bifurcation is the constitutional root of the most fundamental distinction in particle physics — fermions are matter, gauge bosons (E_c=0) are not. (ii) Barrier Asymmetry conditionalized: particle persistence is an emergent property at η ≠ 1, not an intrinsic attribute of particles. (iii) Template Condition particle domain: the finitude of particle species (61) is the frozen record of templates captured during the early-universe Capture Window — not an arbitrary collection. (iv) Line graph duality: wave-particle duality is not a quantum mystery — it is the physical manifestation of a universal graph-theoretic theorem: G and its line graph L(G) share non-zero eigenvalues; particles in G are waves in L(G). (v) Five-channel particle diagnostics: each particle species has a characteristic thermodynamic fingerprint (R_FM, R_MT, R_CF, R_MF, R_irr). (vi) Particle mass hierarchy as the frozen record of irreversible E_c cascade: dm/dt ≤ 0 (Mass v3.2, CLOSED-in-EET) guarantees heavy particles decay into lighter particles; the mass spectrum is the irreducible fossil of this process. (vii) The five-face intersection: particle is the physical intersection point of five constitutional dimensions — Constraint face, Being face, Entropy face, Inverse Entropy face, and Information face. (viii) Neutrino as matter at its weakest: E_c > 0 → m_ν > 0 (constitutional necessity, not empirical discovery). (ix) Dark matter as constitutional matter in a dark constraint sector: invisibility is absence of EM Type II edge coupling, not absence of matter. (x) Academic priority registration: 36 items across major problems in particle physics — hierarchy problem (CLOSED), quark confinement (CLOSED), quantum gravity (CLOSED), neutrino mass (STANDARD), dark matter (STANDARD), proton decay (STANDARD), collider dilemma (STANDARD), hadron mass origin (STANDARD), and others. The document is organized into ten Parts. Part I establishes the constitutional foundations: the chain from Energy Ontology through matter/non-matter to the five energy-transformation operations. Part II defines the core ontology — particle as constrained-state energy, gauge bosons as the spectrum from non-matter to matter. Part III provides companion ontology interfaces. Part IV covers constrained-state particles: formation events, decay dynamics, elastic/plastic inertia, quantum numbers, and species finitude. Part V covers free-state propagation and non-matter dynamics. Part VI establishes wave-particle duality with line graph duality as the graph-theoretic foundation. Part VII systematizes the tri-dimensional classification of particles. Parts VIII–X provide cross-scale instantiation, falsifiable predictions, governance, boundary conditions, and systematic responses to major problems in particle physics. The document concludes with eleven directly testable predictions, each specified with H₀, H₁, sample size, statistical power, effect size, and explicit falsification criterion. Thirty deep insights, thirty-six academic priority registrations, and systematic responses to fifteen major problems in particle physics complete the constitutional architecture. A particle is energy, constrained. Its mass is the shadow of that constraint. Its stability is the maintenance of that boundary. Its decay is the return to freedom.
