HORUS: A computational tool for the design of self-aligned focusing Schlieren optical systems
Abstract
HORUS is a Python tool for the design and analysis of Self-Aligned Focusing Schlieren (SAFS) optical systems. It predicts key optical parameters including field of view, depth of field, sensitivity, cutoff, and vignetting using analytical models and ray tracing. The tool supports single- and double-lens configurations and has been validated against experimental campaigns in compressible-flow facilities.
