Abstract

This document is a voluntary professional standard for handling authority under pressure in classrooms and school settings. Its core boundary is simple: the human nervous system is input alone. Nervous-system signals may be fast, loud, urgent, convincing, or intense, but none of those properties confer decisional authority. From that boundary, the standard offers a practical three-question professional interface:1. What is my next first step?2. What do I get for free?3. Where is the boundary, and how do I allow for duality? The document also recognizes delay as a legitimate professional action when signals are loud and uncertainty is present. Delay preserves authority. Escalation transfers it. This is not a diagnosis, a therapy model, a curriculum, or a mandate for agreement. It is a voluntary standard intended for immediate professional use. The accompanying appendix provides a model school board template for districts or schools that wish to authorize use without creating new duties, reporting structures, or enforcement mechanisms.
