Mechanical Isotropic Confinement for Aneutronic p-¹¹B Fusion via Multi-Axis Rotating Hyperbare Mercury Chamber Coupled by Spectral Attenuation Index k₂
Abstract
We propose a novel architecture for aneutronic proton-boron-11 (p-¹¹B) fusion achieving a theoretical energy gain factor Q = 43.5, based on three physically grounded innovations: Characterization of liquid mercury as a wave-propagating medium using the spectral attenuation index k₂ = πf₀/(Q×Vₛ), extended from geological seismology to nuclear fusion confinement media. Resonant microwave coupling optimized at f_MW ≈ 290 MHz matching the skin-depth/acoustic-wavelength condition in mercury, with electromagnetic mode stirring broadening the spectral window by ±17 MHz. Multi-axis rotating hyperbare chamber providing mechanical isotropic confinement equivalent to centrifugal pressures of 2,000–8,000 bar — achieving spherical inertial confinement without petawatt lasers or tokamak-scale magnetic fields. The p-¹¹B reaction at the secondary resonance (148 keV CoM) produces exclusively three alpha particles (8.7 MeV total) with zero neutron emission and zero radioactive byproducts. Energy input per reaction: ~200 keV. Output: 8.7 MeV. Q = 43.5. The framework extends the spectral attenuation index k_G from geological wave characterization (Valley of the Kings, doi:10.5281/zenodo.19437396) to nuclear fusion confinement — a cross-domain application demonstrating broad utility. Released as open science without patent restriction.
