BeefAI™ — Field Evidence for Carbon Build Momentum: Flux Tower Validation of Management-Driven Carbon Sequestration in Managed Grasslands
Abstract
This technical note documents the field evidence connecting the BeefAI™ Carbon Build Momentum (CBM) scoring methodology to four years (November 2019–June 2023) of continuous eddy covariance flux tower measurements at the Yarramundi research site, Western Sydney University, Hawkesbury campus (FLUXNET site AU-Ya2). The author served as Farm Production Coordinator at the site. Published research demonstrates that the managed paddock achieved 12% higher net ecosystem production and 20% greater gross primary production than an unimproved dryland comparison paddock. Version 1.1 extends the observational record with three independent satellite sensors (Sentinel-2 NDVI, Sentinel-2 NDWI, Landsat 8 NDVI) covering 2016–2026.
