Standardised Research Protocol for Identifying Patents in Green Technology Categories for Specified Owners
Abstract
This digital publication sets out a research standard and associated search strategy files for identifying green patents, defined here as patents classified in selected green technology categories for a user-defined set of patent owners. The standard establishes a consistent procedural principle whereby green technology categories are specified first using a recognised classification framework, and the resulting category-specific search logic is then applied to an identified list of patent owners. In this version, the standard is operationalised using the OECD ENV-TECH classification, as adapted to the categories available in the Orbis Intellectual Property (Orbis IP) database. Its purpose is to support transparent, replicable, and comparable identification of patents associated with selected green technology categories.
