Abstract

Abstract This paper develops Consciousness as a Self-Recognition Operator and Self-Bootstrapping Attractor Basin in Evolution as a structural account of how consciousness acquires historical efficacy within the B_U framework. Its central claim is that consciousness should not be treated as a passive byproduct, a detached inner glow, or an incidental readout layered on top of matter. Consciousness is formalized as a self-recognition operator that acts within the projection stratum to stabilize retention, reinforce low-entropy closure, and generate a self-bootstrapping attractor basin in evolutionary time. Once formed, this basin does not merely register local order. It preserves order, deepens closure, raises the effective floor for subsequent advancement, and compresses residual drift across later stages of development. The paper argues that this attractor structure is a historical fact of organized evolution rather than a speculative metaphor. Consciousness matters because it transforms scattered local coherence into retained, recursively reusable structure. In this way, self-recognition becomes a high-order operator of evolutionary accumulation: it links readout, recognition, indexability, creation, feedback, and settlement into a self-reinforcing sequence rather than a series of disconnected events. The result is a sharper and more operational account of consciousness in which its significance lies not in subjective description alone, but in its formal role as a basin-forming, floor-raising, and residual-compressing operator within one globally consistent reality-network.
