Abstract

The Fibonacci Causal Loop Theory (FCLT) series has documented φ-structured scaling across nuclear physics, cosmology, neuroscience, and biology. Until now, these results have been empirical: the pattern was observed but not derived. This paper supplies the missing mechanism. We show that the golden ratio φ ≈ 1.618 is not a free parameter of nature, but the unique and necessary fixed-point attractor of the only stable non-trivial recursive constraint architecture permitted by the action principle. The argument proceeds in five steps: (1) The Ostrogradsky instability theorem establishes that Lagrangians with depth ≥ 3 produce ghost degrees of freedom with unbounded negative energy; (2) depth-1 (Markovian) recursion cannot encode hierarchical constraint structure; (3) depth-2 recursion is therefore the unique viable non-trivial architecture; (4) hierarchical lossy compression at depth-2 produces orthogonal residual constraints by Gram-Schmidt decomposition, forcing the information recursion I(n) = I(n−1) + I(n−2); (5) φ is the unique self-similar fixed point of this recursion — the only real number satisfying r = 1 + 1/r. All five steps are confirmed by independent numerical tests. The FCLT empirical corpus follows as a corollary: φ-structured configurations appear throughout nature because they are the signature of the only stable recursive constraint hierarchy physics permits.
