Abstract

We report three numerical findings regarding the Luoshu magic square (洛書) and its relationship to E8 root system geometry and SU(3) gauge theory. First, the Luoshu magic square achieves rank-0 (optimal) row-balance under E8 projection across five independent embedding methods, suggesting a deep geometric compatibility between the Luoshu structure and E8 symmetry. Second, the optimal projection angle from 8D to 3D is found to be approximately 84°, which coincides with known biological assembly angles (microtubule α/β dimer: 84°, collagen triple helix: 85°, β-turn Ca1-Ca4: 84°). Third, the Luoshu's symmetry group D4 (order 8) contains a subgroup D3 which embeds into SU(3) as a genuine subgroup, and the Luoshu Hermitian operator can be expanded in the SU(3) Gell-Mann basis with all 8/8 commutators nonzero, confirming non-Abelian structure. We further outline a conjectural framework in which E8 geometric rigidity combined with U(3) gauge conservation may provide a pathway toward bounding vorticity in the Navier-Stokes equations. This is a research note reporting numerical observations and a conjectural framework.
