MELVIS — MELt VIScosity: a volcanic melt viscosity platform
Abstract
MELVIS (MELt VIScosity) is an open-access web platform for calculating and visualising the viscosity of volcanic and silicate melts as a function of temperature and water content. Developed by the GLASS laboratory (Gateway Laboratory of Amorphous and Structured Solids and Melts, CNR-ISSMC, Rome, Italy) with support from the European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant NANOVOLC (grant 101044772). The platform provides three modules:- Viscosity Calculator: multi-sample ANN-based viscosity calculation- Anhydrous and Hydrous Modelling: Tg(H₂O) and fragility fitting- Specific Composition Models: MYEGA models for specific volcanic compositions Available at: https://annviscositycalculator.streamlit.appSource code: https://github.com/DiGenovaDanilo/ViscosityCalculator This record contains the ANN model weights required to run MELVIS locally. All relevant references are listed under Related Works.
