Abstract

Conceptual Foundation Note — Version 1.0 — May 2026Preprint prepared for priority, discussion, and further development This paper introduces the concept of a pre-informational transmission substrate: a proposed non-reactive support condition beneath spacetime, information, quantum fields, and the metafield architecture developed in the author’s Information Boundary Principle framework. The paper argues conditionally that if quantum structure is physically real rather than merely calculational, and if information is not accepted as a self-sufficient primitive, then a deeper non-reactive substrate may be required. The substrate is distinguished from spacetime, ordinary quantum fields, vacuum states, information systems, the metafield, and the Minimum Informational Boundary. The paper is offered as a conceptual foundation note for priority, discussion, and further development. Abstract This paper presents a conditional ontological argument for a pre-informational transmission substrate: a non-reactive foundational support condition prior to spacetime, prior to ordinary quantum fields, prior to physically operative information, and prior to the metafield architecture developed in related work. The argument does not claim experimental detection of a new physical field or substance. Nor does it assume that all interpretations of quantum mechanics must treat the wavefunction as a literal material wave in ordinary space. The ontological status of the wavefunction remains contested. The argument instead proceeds conditionally: if the wavefunction, quantum state, or nonlocal correlation structure disclosed by quantum mechanics is physically real rather than merely calculational, then that structure appears to require a supporting condition not reducible to local spacetime, ordinary quantum fields, or information-as-bit. This paper identifies that supporting condition as a pre-informational transmission substrate. The defining feature of the substrate is non-reactivity. It supports transmissibility, relation, and state-possibility without encoding, storing, selecting, computing, modifying, remembering, or reacting to the content it supports. It is not a signal, not a message, not a code, not an ordinary field, not an aether, not a vacuum state, and not the metafield itself. It is the condition beneath all such structures. The substrate is characterized negatively and functionally because current mathematics does not yet provide a standard formalism for describing a pre-spacetime, pre-informational, non-reactive support condition. The paper is offered as a conceptual foundation note and not as an established scientific result.
