Mosquito collection and handling protocol to obtain High-Molecular Weight DNA
Abstract
This protocol describes a standardized workflow for the capture, handling and preservation of mosquito specimens intended for high-molecular weight (HMW) DNA extraction and genomic sequencing applications. The protocol was developed to minimize DNA degradation and avoid freeze-thaw cycles during mosquito collection and processing, thereby improving DNA integrity for downstream genomic analyses such as whole-genome sequencing (WGS) or long-read sequencing.
