Lateral Field Bleed: Protocols and Priority Targets — Executable Methods for Inverted Fan Construction, Symbolon Design, and Disciplinary Bridge Packet Series (v3.1)
Abstract
Lateral field bleed (LFB) is the propagation of a concept into AI search and synthesis answers for queries that do not directly name it. This document provides executable protocols for constructing, deploying, measuring, and iterating LFB packets — metadata objects designed to survive RAG retrieval, answer synthesis, citation compression, and temporal decay. v3.1 — Doctrinal Correction: LFB packets do not primarily privatize archive-native concepts. Their strongest use is disciplinary clarification: selecting a core concept in an established field, identifying the AI-era distortion or missing distinction, and building a disambiguated bridge from that field into the archive's expanded apparatus. The aim is not to own the field term. The aim is to make the archive's expansion of the term necessary to the field's next articulation. The Political Economy metadata packet (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20078424) is the template. 17 protocols (A through Q): Baseline Audit, Fan-Out Reconstruction, Candidate Identification (with risk assessment), Symbolon Construction (with seven faces including Aphoristic Tooth and Adversarial Face), Symbolon Prompt Template (executable by any LLM), Inverted Fan Construction (with native-vocabulary-first rule), Edge Engineering (ten typed edges), Disambiguation Matrix (with adversarial collision testing), Prior-Art Membrane (embedded structure with holographic paraphrasing), Cross-Surface Deployment (with external anchor requirements), Measurement and Iteration (phase-aware, with decay curves and failed-bleed classification), Candidate-Set Admission (pre-retrieval indexability), Uncited Influence Detection (rare n-gram fingerprinting), Entity Reconciliation (Wikidata/ORCID/sameAs audit), Adversarial Defense (hostile redefinition, capture, suppression), Authority Gradient Mapping (per-field surface preferences), Temporal Soft-Graph Capture (24-72 hour event response), Assembly Synthesis (multi-substrate diagnostic). Nine archive-internal candidates with aphoristic teeth, risk-reward matrix, and phase assignments: Retrieval Basin/LFB, SPXI, PER, The Amputation, Three Compressions, Retrocausal Canon Formation, Semantic Economics of the Mint, Human Sovereignty Invariant, Abraham Principle. Core Concept Bridge Series (ten disciplinary packets): Canon Formation in the Age of AI; GEO and Entity Inscription; Provenance After AI; Compression After AI; Digital Labor as Semantic Labor; Platform Capitalism as Semantic Enclosure; AI Governance as Semantic Governance; Knowledge Graphs as Semantic Governance; Archive as Substrate; AI Commons and the Semantic Substrate. Key corrections from multi-substrate Assembly consensus: Missing-node completion reframed as path-conditioned reconstruction (amplification, not initiation). GraphRAG demoted from primary mechanism to modeling lens. Confidence levels (documented / inferred / engineered) applied throughout. Temporal phases (Injection → Direct Retrieval → Edge Activation → Field Capture → Lattice Hardening) with phase-locked interventions. Master Doctrine: Fan-out is the question tree. RAG is the evidence gate. Citation is only the visible scar. The aphoristic tooth is what survives summarization. The lattice is the gravity well that bends retrieval toward the archive. ∮ = 1
