GRPC-Based Lightweight Communication Framework for High-Performance Enterprise Microservices
Abstract
Enterprise microservice ecosystems require low-latency communication protocols capable of supporting high-volume inter-service interactions while minimizing network overhead. Traditional REST-based architectures often experience serialization inefficiencies and increased response latency in distributed systems. This research proposes a GRPC-based communication framework for high-performance enterprise microservices deployed within Kubernetes environments. The framework leverages protocol buffers, bidirectional streaming, and lightweight binary serialization to optimize service communication efficiency. The research evaluates response latency, throughput performance, CPU utilization, and network overhead across REST and GRPC implementations under enterprise-scale workloads. Mathematical network-performance modeling and service-discovery optimization techniques will be incorporated to analyze scalability. The proposed framework aims to improve communication efficiency, reduce infrastructure overhead, and enhance operational performance for distributed enterprise applications.
