BASE: Bronchiectasis Assessment of Severity and Exacerbations — Methodological Disclosure, Protocol, and Statistical Analysis Plan
Abstract
This restricted-access Zenodo record archives the methodological foundation of the Bronchiectasis Assessment of Severity and Exacerbations (BASE) framework. BASE is a prospective observational baseline disease-signature framework developed to classify current bronchiectasis severity and predict one-year exacerbation risk in adults with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFB). The record contains the BASE Disclosure Document and the BASE Protocol and Statistical Analysis Plan. These files document the conceptual structure, dual-model architecture, candidate variables, endpoint hierarchy, development-validation governance, scoring logic, comparator framework, sample-size rationale, analytical integrity rules, and restricted-access conditions for BASE before final model derivation and validation. The BASE framework includes two linked models: the BASE Severity model (BASE-S) for current bronchiectasis severity classification and the BASE Prognostic model (BASE-P) for prediction of 12-month bronchiectasis exacerbation risk. Access to restricted files may be considered only for qualified scientific, editorial, regulatory, peer-review, or collaborative purposes after approval by the investigators and institutional authority where applicable. © 2026 Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt.
