Abstract

We investigate a class of degenerate mixed-gradient scalar field models characterized by a field dependent kinetic coefficient Z(Φ) and a nonlinear quartic-gradient term γ|∇Φ|4. Extending the static compact-support analysis developed in BIG Phase 2, we introduce a driven degenerate gradient-flow equation and numerically examine the dynamical stability of compact-support structures (compactons). Numerical evidence indicates that the competition between transport suppression (Z(Φ) → 0 near vacuum) and nonlinear interfacial stiffness (γ > 0) generates robust finite-propagation domains with dynamically stable boundaries. Sensitivity analysis with respect to the regularization parameter ε further suggests that the compact-support phenomenology is intrinsic to the degenerate variational structure rather than a numerical artifact.
