KRICO Post-processing
Abstract
Post-processing and recruitment classification pipeline for the KRICO project (Antarctic Krill Connectivity). Classifies particles from a 32-year Lagrangian particle tracking hindcast (1994–2025) of Antarctic krill larval dispersal across CCAMLR Statistical Areas 48 and 88 into eight outcome states: recruitment success, censored, and mortality filters M1 (ice at spawning), M4 (calyptopis starvation under sea ice), M5a (under-development at sea-ice advance), M5b (off-shelf at sea-ice advance), M6 (no winter sea-ice advance within tracking window), and domain exit. Changed in v2.0.0. M1 is evaluated at the spawning date, 24 days before release, rather than at the release date as in v1.0.0. It is read from the GLORYS12v1 sea-ice field directly rather than sampled along the trajectory, so the pipeline now requires the sea-ice forcing (KRICO_GLORYS12) in addition to the trajectories. M1 rises 5.19 percentage points domain-wide and every outcome downstream of it shifts. Output files carry m1_spawning_offset_days, m1_spawning_date and m1_sic_source as global attributes; v1.0.0 output files carry none. Full release notes on GitHub. Developed in support of Gourgue et al. (2026). Recruitment outcome data archived separately at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22548763.
