Amendment LXXXI: Microbial Coherence and Antibiotic Resistance Gene Persistence in Wastewater Treatment -- McCaul's Law of Coherence Applied to the ARG Domain
Abstract
Amendment LXXXI applies McCaul's Law of Coherence (Omega = Phi) to antibiotic resistance gene (ARG) persistence in wastewater treatment systems. The Nr (Noise Resistance) pillar is identified as a direct mechanistic match for ARG function: resistance genes ARE Nr elevation in biological systems. Phi_sludge is calculated from six standard WWTP proxy measurements (VSS/TSS, COD removal, turbidity NTU, ARG copy number, SRT, SVI). Simulation results: Phi_sludge predicts ARG log-removal with R2=0.86 across 5 SRT conditions (2-40 days), reproducing the Walston (2013) paradox -- the non-monotonic SRT-removal curve is explained as a Phi-coherence trajectory. ARG enrichment onset predicted at Phi_sludge > 0.814 (SRT approximately 18-22d). ARG strain (blaTEM, pUC19) predicted to survive chlorination 3.5x longer than isogenic WT (0.54 log difference at 2.0 mg/L Cl2). All predictions are preregistered with explicit falsification criteria. A two-phase lab protocol is designed for validation using equipment available at the City of Tempe Water Quality Lab, proposed in collaboration with Stefan Walston, M.S. (City of Tempe / University of Arizona). Phase 1 requires zero new lab work -- retrospective analysis of Walston 2013 thesis data. All results triple-verified: Method A first principles, Method B dimensional analysis, Method C Monte Carlo N=100000. Amendment 81 of 81. Master DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20100469.
