Abstract

The Hidden Infections research programme has now generated two distinct treatment problems. The first — the cancer arm (Studies 1–21) — establishes causal or strongly associative evidence for parasite-driven oncogenesis and demonstrates that removing the parasite prevents the cancer. The companion mechanistic reviews extend this into treatment: existing repurposed drugs may be active against established parasite-associated cancers. The second — the deprivation arm (Studies 22–54) — establishes that the progressive elimination of helminths from industrialised populations removed constitutive immune regulatory signals, driving the 20th-century rise of IBD, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, coeliac disease, and asthma. The central new finding for the deprivation arm is that periodic fasting pharmacologically reconstitutes four of the five helminth immune signals through convergent but mechanistically precise pathways. The Nature Medicine 2026 Crohn's RCT (69.2% vs 43.8% clinical response, p=0.03) provides Grade B clinical evidence. The BHB→STAT6→M2 mechanism activates the identical molecular switch that helminth IL-4/IL-13 activates. Two additional precision findings extend...
