Hopfion Series Paper XIII - Atomic Quantum Mechanics from the Hopfion Condensate
Abstract
We derive a complete foundation for atomic and molecular quantum mechanics from the density-feedback Faddeev–Niemi Hopfion condensate of Papers I–XII, establishing ten results without additional postulates. The condensate suppression law ε(r) = 1/[φ6(1 + β*ρ(r))] adds a single correction to the hydrogen Hamiltonian: Heff = HCoulomb − (ℏ2/2me) ε(r)/r2 L2. The correction acts only on angular kinetic energy (sin4(0) = 0 kills the radial term exactly). Inside the atom, the Coulomb field drives β*ρatom(a0) ≈ 2.6×1025, chameleon-screening the correction to ε(a0) ≈ 2.2×10−27. The Hamiltonian reduces to the standard Coulomb form, and spherical harmonics Yℓm emerge as exact orbital shapes — derived from the chameleon mechanism rather than assumed. The condensate correction to hydrogen energy levels is ΔE2p ≈ −1.77×10−24 eV, roughly 1020 times smaller than the fine structure. The chameleon screening is proved universal: for any Z-electron atom, β*ρ(Z)(r) ≥ β*ρ(1)(r) ≫ 1 throughout the electronic density, since Zeff(r) ≥ 1 always. Spherical harmonics are therefore exact for all atoms and all Z. The condensate energy correction scales as Z−4 for inner electrons and is bounded by ~10−24 eV universally. The Hartree–Fock equations are exact within the framework, with no condensate correction needed at any measurable precision. In free space at the cosmic attractor density β*ρ∞ = φ (exact), the pentagon identity 1+φ = φ2 gives ε∞ = 1/φ8 exactly. The electron’s effective mass is anisotropic: Δm/me = 1/φ8 ≈ 2.13%, a falsifiable Penning-trap prediction. Cyclotron-frequency measurements as a function of trap orientation relative to the CMB dipole provide a clean experimental test. The Schrödinger equation is derived from the condensate quantum theory of Paper X rather than postulated, via the translation fibration CQred = ℝ3 × Cinternal, Noether momentum P̂i = −iℏ∂/∂Ri, Lorentz covariance fixing Meff = me, and the Born–Oppenheimer adiabatic separation at εBO = α2/(2φ) ≈ 1.6×10−5. The formal BO error bound O(εBO2) ≈ 2.7×10−10 is dramatically improved: the derivative coupling d0k = ⟨kint|∂/∂R|0int⟩ = 0 exactly for all k, because internal states are defined in Cinternal = CQred/ℝ3 and have no R-dependence by construction. The Schrödinger equation is exact to O(εcond) ≈ 10−27, a factor of ~1017 tighter than the standard BO bound. The fermionic nature of the electron is derived from the condensate topology. The binary icosahedral group 2I is a double cover of I; its central element z (the 2π rotation) acts as −1 on the fundamental spinor representation. The Q = 2 gradient-knot transforms in this representation, giving spin J = 1/2 (from the Hopf-fibre phase eiπQ/2|Q=2 = −1), Fermi statistics (antisymmetric exchange), and Pauli exclusion (ψ(x,x) = −ψ(x,x) = 0). The same ℤ2 structure gives the colour level shift δn(C) = 1/2 of Paper V: fermionic statistics and colour charge share a single topological root in 2I. The general formula J = Q/4 (proved via Berry phase eiπQ/2 and WZW energy minimisation h(J) = J(J+1)/5 at level k = 3) assigns spins to all Standard Model particles: J = 0 (Higgs, Q = 0), J = 1/2 (leptons and quarks, Q = 2), J = 1 (gauge bosons, Q = 4), J = 3/2 (gravitino slot, Q = 6, no SM particle), J = 2 (graviton, Q = 8). The representation dimension 2J+1 = Q/2+1 matches the irreducible representations of 2I in each case. The conformal weight h = 6/5 of the graviton (Q = 8) exceeds the unitarity bound of the k = 3 WZW theory, consistent with its non-renormalisable character.
