Field Notes from the Substrate — Translations No. 2: SF-Pressure as Structural Answerability
Abstract
This working note is the second installment in Field Notes from the Substrate, a series translating physics-facing concepts through Structural Flow. The note defines SF-Pressure as structural answerability: the must-answer relation created when authorized carried status remains live for what comes next, without determining the later response in advance. SF-Pressure is not mechanical pressure, fluid pressure, stress, equation-of-state pressure, force, dark energy, cosmic expansion, a primitive, a new hinge, or a new failure regime. It is a derived structural relation-condition located between authorized carry and response-space: Authorization → Carry → SF-Pressure → Response-Space. The note clarifies the core duality of SF-Pressure as must-answer / not-dictated. It also distinguishes SF-Pressure from dark energy and cosmic expansion, treating dark energy as a possible source of answerability through baseline geometry contribution and cosmic expansion as a later use-case involving whole-scale relation carry under structural answerability. This is a working specialist note, not a theorem-level proof and not a replacement for physical pressure terms or formal physical models. It does not derive Λ, the Hubble value, measured pressure, expansion history, or the cosmological constant problem. Its contribution is narrower: it defines the structural answerability relation needed for later lawful cross-domain translation.
