astro-YYH/Astrid_feedback_analysis: v1.0.0
Abstract
This repository contains analysis code and notebooks for the paper “Matter Clustering in Astrid: Reduced Baryonic Suppression from Realistic Black Hole Dynamics” by Yanhui Yang et al. The code is used to study black hole feedback, host halos, and halo density profiles in cosmological simulations run with MP-Gadget. In particular, it supports the analysis presented in Yang et al. 2026 by computing halo mass profiles, matching halos across simulation variants, comparing density profiles, and extracting black hole feedback histories from simulation outputs. The repository is organized into two main workflows. The mass_profile/ workflow computes cumulative halo mass profiles from PIG_*_subfind catalogs, derives quantities such as M200m, M200c, and M500c, and compares stacked density profiles between matched halos. The black_hole/ workflow extracts black hole evolution information, especially kinetic-feedback histories, attaches relevant halo properties, and produces summary figures used to connect black hole dynamics with baryonic effects on matter clustering. This code is intended for researchers who want to reproduce or extend the analysis of baryonic suppression in the Astrid simulations or the small-volume variants. Several scripts assume access to MP-Gadget PART, PIG_*, and BlackholeDetails* outputs stored outside this repository.
