Abstract

The current scientific consensus indicates that because of a lack of a Universal “now” in relativity there must ontologically exist time travel. However, the relativity of simultaneity in special relativity is a statement about coordinate choice, not an ontological verdict or indication of time travel ontology. In our universe the cosmic microwave back-ground (CMB) singles out an empirically distinguished comoving foliation whose cosmic time 𝑡 can be taken as the universal present everywhere. I present a precise operational near-field transform that maps a local observer into the asymptotic comoving frame, give the rigorous curved-spacetime formulas needed to implement it, and show how this foliation dissolves the Andromeda paradox while leaving all dynamical predictions of relativity intact. A worked trip-to-Andromeda example contrasts cosmic time with ship proper time and clarifies why time dilation does not constitute ontological time travel and equates it to ontological 'age' dilation instead.
