O(1)Computation of Topological Charge: Eight Methods and a Unifying Principle
Abstract
Abstract The topological charge I = (1/2π)∮ dγ is a topological invariant describing the accumulated phase along a closed path, holding central significance in phase-coupled systems, quantum systems, fluid vortices, AI model evolution, and other domains. Classical methods compute the topological charge via continuous integration, which is computationally expensive and requires a complete closed path. Based on the generative axiom system, this paper reveals the deep essence of the topological charge: the microscopic phase closure condition Σ Δφ = k · q. All fast methods for computing the topological charge are unfoldings of this condition onto different data types and observational scales. We systematically summarize eight methods for computing the topological charge with O(1) complexity and unify them within the generative axiom system. This paper is an L4-layer application paper, transforming the mathematical framework established in the L0–L3 layers into executable engineering algorithms. The "emergent smoothness" cited herein is intrinsically guaranteed by Axioms Paper Theorem 3.13 and Dynamic Complex Geometry Theorem 3.2; their rigorous proofs can be verified in the corresponding literature. The "holographic encoding" cited herein is rigorously proved by Dynamic Topology Theorem 3.3. The core contribution of this paper is system integration and engineering implementation—transforming abstract mathematical principles into concrete computational tools, thereby providing a complete algorithmic support for the L0 module of the nine-layer optimization scheme of The Holomorphic Architecture. Keywords: topological charge; O(1) computation; phase closure condition; emergent smoothness; holographic encoding; generativism; fast algorithm; unifying principle
