Abstract

Study 21 of the Hidden Infections research series. Extending the GBD 2021 analysis of Study 17 to include four additional parasite-cancer pairs with sufficient epidemiological evidence: Trichomonas vaginalis/prostate cancer, Schistosoma japonicum/HCC, Toxoplasma gondii/glioma, and Schistosoma mansoni/colorectal cancer. Synthesises PAF estimates across 8 pathogen-cancer pairs to provide the most comprehensive current estimate of parasite-attributable cancer burden globally. Group E: Burden quantification.
