Abstract

This record contains the artifacts and supplementary material for the demo paper PGShield: Maintaining Path Constraints in Property Graphs by the same authors, which has been accepted for presentation at the 52nd International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB 2026). Abstract We present PGShield, the first system that prevents updates that would violate path constraints on property graphs. It eliminates the need for costly post error detection and repair, that turns out to be a time-consuming task in graph databases. Indeed, violations may appear along long and arbitrarily complex paths. PGShield extends the recently standardized GQL query language with new clauses that allow users to define path constraints, apply updates safely, and receive feedback when an update cannot be performed due to a constraint violation. Internally, PGShield annotates the graph with metadata serving as an index to detect potential violations efficiently before changes are applied. We demonstrate PGShield on real-world property graph datasets and constraints. Documentation The supplementary-material.pdf file documents the GQL extensions and algorithms used by PGShield. It also contains a discussion of related work. For instructions on how to use PGShield, please see the README.md and demo/README.md files within the zip archive.
