Abstract

This dataset contains raw logs and time-series analysis outputs of stratigraphic cyclicity observed in the (ca. 30-m-thick) Cheops Pyramid member ('orange unit') of the Mesoproterozoic Hakatai Shale (Unkar Group, Grand Canyon Supergroup) in central-eastern Grand Canyon. Cyclostratigraphic logs are based manual field measurements and 3D photogrammetry models of the outcrops as studied in the Red Canyon and Tapeats Creek areas, and were collected during a three-week field campaign in October 2023 under the U.S. National Park Service scientific research permit #GRCA-2023-SCI-0041. Fieldwork was partially supported by the Dr. Schürmann Foundation grant #2023-166. In addition, source data and code are provided for the reconstruction of Milanković cycles and associated Earth-Moon and solar system parameters at circa 1.2 Ga. Data are supplementary to M.L. Lantink, A. Eyster, I.J. Kocken, S.R. Meyers and R.E. Zeebe, Earth-Moon and Solar System history recorded in Mesoproterozoic Grand Canyon strata.
