Abstract

Overview This release contains the complete simulation code used in the manuscript: Qianyang Chen and Mikhail Prokopenko. "Thermodynamic efficiency of self-organisation in nonequilibrium steady states" arXiv:2605.04508 (2026). Key Features Persistent Ising Model (PIM): Source code to simulate and compute thermodynamic efficiency for a NESS ferromagnetic model with broken detailed balance. Active Ising Model (AIM): Source code to simulate and compute thermodynamic efficiency for a two-dimensional active-spin system. What's new in this version Implemented entropy production rate calculations for both the persistent Ising model and the active Ising model. Optimised for significantly faster execution and streamlined the code structure for better readability and easier local testing. Added scalable Python scripts tailored for High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments, enabling distributed execution of large simulation batches. Installation & Usage Please refer to the README.md for full installation instructions and minimum working examples.
