Abstract

Version 1.0.0 – Code accompanying "Characterization of Rocky Exoplanet Atmospheres from Lyman-a Transit Observations".This code models the molecular diffusion of hydrogen from the homopause of rocky exoplanets. Hydrogen escape from the atmosphere is modelled as either Jeans escape or hydrodynamic escape, depending on the properties of the atmosphere. The resulting radial profile of neutral hydrogen is used to simulate a Lyman-alpha transit. This code uses a modified version of Sunbather (https://github.com/antonpannekoek/sunbather) to model the transit. For modelling hydrodynamic escape, Sunbather is coupled to the isothermal Parker wind model p-winds (https://github.com/ladsantos/p-winds). Additionally, we use the eta_approx.py script developed with the ATES code ((https://github.com/AndreaCaldiroli/ATES-Code) for determining energy-limited mass loss rates.
