Abstract

This repository provides a modified version of the GOCART dust emission scheme embedded within the Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with Chemistry (WRF-Chem, version 4.4.1), along with its corresponding input datasets. The scheme has been optimized and upgraded to better capture the temporal and spatial variations of dust emissions and PM (particulate matter) concentrations, with a specific focus on China. Additionally, users can utilize this model to simulate the underlying surfaces of solar farms. The repository contains two primary components: Model Code: Contains the modified GOCART dust emission scheme source code compatible with WRF-Chem v4.4.1. It includes a dedicated run directory, run_PV, which is configured to run the PV underlying surface scheme (with corresponding modifications made to the TBL and other configuration files). Erodibility Dataset: Includes a new dynamic soil erodibility (EROD) dataset, which provides monthly data for March to May from 2010 to 2023 at a spatial resolution of 0.1°×1°. This dataset also incorporates erodibility data altered by solar farms (excluding the specific geographic distribution of the PV stations). Users can specifically configure the geo files required for WRF-Chem runs according to their needs. Implementation of Photovoltaic (PV) Parameterization Simulation: The model includes both the run_PV files and the PV-altered erodibility data required for the PV parameterization scheme. Users can conduct specific experimental simulations within the designated directories by modifying the target erodibility data, vegetation data, land use types, and other parameters as desired.
